As above. I am away for four weeks. My laptop is at home. Brought an old I pad but it’s forgotten all my passwords.

I need to get into Facebook as stuff booked via fb.

I need to reset my fb pw . It’s linked to old hotmail.

I tried the form, request denied my Microsoft.

Any ideas….

Why was the request denied by Microsoft? Account expired and been deleted or just don't know the password reset questions?

I do not use the account for anything but my fb. 10 years at least since regular use. It wants email addresses of sent items. I guess that’s where it’s going wrong. I am going to try again now and use some old work emails

I am back into hotmail, the second form was approved.

Still not in Facebook though.

Logged in via secure code to my hotmail and chaneGed password.

Then when I try to log in to fb I got a message saying I had to ask friends to approve my login ????!!!

It only gave a list of about 10 people to pick from most of which I had not spoken too in years. I tried the 3 best I could pick. I have to wait and see now I guess.

I always travel with an ipad and login before leaving the UK, and don't log out.

I have been in the same situation as you, had to ring my sister in the UK, get her to let herself into my house with a key, switch my pc on and open a file with all my passwords in, then text me them.

I'd say never travel with them!

Just use a password manager as mentioned above or use chrome or apple keychain to store them.

You only need to know one key password that can then lead you to wherever you keep a note of your other passwords.

Just use the word 'password' for your actual password on everything you have an account for! Simples laugh

Nothing in my experience. My key password is very obvious to me - but it makes no sense to anybody else.

This is a really good lesson on why a password manager is essential.

Use a reputable one and sync across multiple devices and if it's that important print it out and take it with you (life inflicts a low battery at the most inconvenient moments).

I think my location was what is causing the biggest issue. I also need to audit all my accounts when I get back and change that hotmail as the user name as I simply never use it any more.

This is the first time I have ever travelled without some sort of laptop but I needed to save weight I don’t normally use any apple products

Anyway lesson learned. I have already taken screen shots from FB now so if I have any future issues on this trip I can at least see the info I need .

Not really what I meant.

I guess some people are good with these sort of things and some, myself included, just are not.

Must say I've never heard of that before - if I got such a request I'd assume it was a scam.
