Huawei View mate 34inch - Windows 10 laptop -Display issues
Discussion
Hi all,
Just brought a Huawei Mateview 34gt. Connecting it to my Lenovo T470 laptop to help my old eyes :-)
Connected up, all good but the laptop display doesnt completey fill the whole screen i.e. two black rectangles either side on my monitor.
I went into the laptop settings ... display, resolution and the its set to the highest 1920 x 1080.
I tried to download Huawei PC manager / display drivers and I get not compatible.
How do I fix this issue ? My old Windows 7 / nt days I would install a new vendor driver and adjust the resolution. But not now by the seems of it.
Can some help / suggest how to fix this ? I want my new 34inch to display the screen from edge to edge.

How is the monitor connected to the laptop? HDMI?
Worth checking the maximum supported resolution of your CPU/GPU (which can be different depending on the connection type) - instructions here:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/ar...
Can you post back the results please?
The Lenovo spec' I quickly Googled for the T470 says it has a Thunderbolt 3 port (looks like a new USB-C) - does your laptop? Depending on what the check above reports, you might need to use a Thunderbolt / USB-C to DisplayPort cable to get the full resolution of the monitor (and then maybe scale in Windows if the text is too small).

Hi,
Yes Im using HDMI. Looking near the power port there is a port similar to a USB c - Has SS writting on it. Do I need a thunderbolt port to hdmi port cable ? is there one ?

The max supported resolution for HDMI is good.
Do you have the Intel Graphics utility installed? Try searching the Start Menu for Intel Graphics Control Panel or Intel Graphics Command Center. If you have one of those, can you find the installed graphics driver version? I'm wondering if that needs an update to something newer...
Is the HDMI cable you are using relatively new? Is there any writing on it which identifies the HDMI standard it supports? I have a vague memory that some basic HDMI cables won't go above 1080p (1920 x 1080).

Ive resolved it :-)
Im using a laptop so I had to set the power to stay on when the lid is closed. Once the lid was closed and the monitor came the main display it then asked about resolution as not being suitable and allowed me to update the resolution to 3440 x 1080 or something. I now have edge to edge full screen. If I lift my laptop lid up then it goes back to a lesser resolution.
I also did windows key P and choose the monitor as the main screen which also worked.
So it seems that when the laptop screens is on the graphics resolution of the screen is restricted to what that is.

Odd, I have one on a T470s which I assume is same chipset, etc. No issues doing 3440x1440 over HDMI at the same time as the internal 1920x1080 display. As said, HDMI cables differ, worth trying a newer one.
I did need to use a USB-C to HDMI adaptor to get 4k-60hz when I used that. Can't find the same one but this looks very similar: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adapter-Thunderbolt-Compa...

Have you set your screens to Mirror (same thing on both) or Extend (desktop only on one screen). Try Extend & you should be able to set different resolutions for each. You can make the big screen the desktop.
This, it sounds like you have the "duplicate" option set OP, rather than "extend".Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
