Hi folks, hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a HP ENVY Photo 6230 printer that has stopped working. The wifi light has stopped coming on so it's not connecting to my network (even after reboot). As it's linked to HP Instant Ink contracts, when I turn it on now it asks for language, region etc but then just gets stuck. If I try to manually get it going it freezes on an error screen saying cartridge can't be used until printer is enrolled in HP instant ink.
I am enrolled, I'm paying monthly but the printer won't connect to the network. I've tried plugging it into the PC via USB cable , adding the printer to the HP Smart App but it just says the ink cartridges are not compatible (I guess because it thinks its a different printer as it's now not connected via wifi).
Any pointers or is the printer a useless hunk of plastic without a network connection ? Surely you should be able to plug it in to the PC and go from there ! ?

Thanks
Steve

No one had this experience > ? Have no printer at the moment and don't want to buy if there is a simple fix but just can't work out what to do or try next !

At the moment I seem to have a perfectly servicable printer that refuses to print anything (even plugged in) because it's not connected to the WWW.

Had an issue with an HP machine. Called HP and after the usual helpline hurdles, spoke to a chap that talked me through the troubleshooting that I’d not tried. The problem remained and I was sent a new printer.
Good service overall.

Cannot find a helpline....keeps directing me to Virtual Assistant and when I add the serial number, as it's out of warranty, I basically get "go back to Virtual Assistant".

I guess I could try buying non “Instant Ink” to see if it works just plugged into the PC

I can’t remember how I got in touch on the printer issue, and think the printer may have been in warranty which yours isn’t.

However, I got into a similar situation to yours I think when trying to get my son’s HP gaming laptop repaired.

I used the HP support community and after going round in circles for a week had a reply from an HP employee who put me in touch with the HP support team. They arranged for the laptop to be repaired.
