Screen protectors: yay or nay?
Discussion
New phone on the way, case ordered of course. Not sure whether to bother with a screen protector.
Do you use one and why (not)?
Never had one on previous phones, and never really noticed any issues. Just the odd micro scratch which you barely notice. Although I have found on my current phone which is now two years old that it fingerprints and screen becomes oily really easily.

I didn't put one on my phone, then one day put it into a pocket with my keys and now it has a deep 1" scratch. :-(
I did put one on my son's phone, he's taken it to school every day (COVID permitting) and he just took it off as there were some bubbles under it and the screen is perfect. I think we'll replace it!

I used to lead a charmed life with mobile devices, but no more. The first straw was dropping an unprotected IPad Air 2 on a tiled floor, just out of the AppleCare window and then seeing the cost of replacement screens!
Current phone case a bit slippier than the last. Dropped it face first onto tarmac and the glass screen protector was obliterated. £10 well spent, and makes no difference to use ability!

Pretty much always used a protector, easily replaced, to remove the micro scratches they regularly pick up with me.
But I’m pretty rough with my phones so pick up songs and marks often, but they get handed down to the kids every two years anyway.
Fresh case and protector for them and off they go.

No case, no screen protector. So it gets a few scratches. So what.
Same. I'm not massively careful, but also not a klutz. My youngest daughter however has military grade case and tempered glass protector. She came home earlier "I dropped my phone but its just the screen protector that's broken". Thankfully I have spares, so new protector fitted.
My S20 came with a protector already installed. I didn't realise and thought it was a shipping protection and peeled it off. Screen is still fine though.
I wonder if iPhones are particularly fragile. I've always had Samsungs and wife and kids always had iphones. Theirs always end up cracked and none of mine have.

Yes as I buy my phone's sim free, i have small kids and they sometimes throw my phone around while not looking, other times I've had something in the same pocket as my phone and when sitting down its squashed against the screen.
Broke 2 screen protectors recently and I'm just glad I had them or else I'd be looking at costly screen replacements, I also use a TPU case for the rest of the phone.

Always buy my phones sim free, I always buy the thinnest gel case possible as find most phones slippy to hold these days.. apart from that no screen protector.
A few years ago I did fit a "privacy screen" where the screen was black if not looking directly at it, but it shattered after a few months.
