Hey PH massive - I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max I bought earlier in the year which I'm really happy with. However, I've noticed that since installing iOS 16 I feel like my battery life is noticably worse than it was when I ran iOS 15.x...has anyone else noticed the same, or has this topic been covered in detail elsewhere?

Not noticed a worse battery life on my iPhone XS but I now don’t WhatsApp notifications for some weird reason. All notifications turned on but have to open the app to see them.

I had a brand new battery put in my iPhone 8 at my local Apple store last weekend and have been pondering the move to iOS 16 as my next step. Maybe I'll hang on and watch from the sidelines for a little while.

How long ago did you install it? I know sometimes you can get worse battery life for a few days after installing while it rearranges things in the memory, apps get updated, etc.

For what it’s worth, I haven’t noticed a difference.

Within a day or two of it being released, I have subsequently updated the phone to 16.0.3 but the problem seems the same.

Today for instance, I fully charged the phone earlier and then used Waze for two short journeys. The battery is now down to 76% where this would've been probably 85% or so when running iOS 15.

Yeah, I've noticed this also. I don't like the changes they've made to notifications. I have to swipe up from the bottom to see WhatsApp and any other notifications from my lock screen.

I hadn’t made the connection but battery life is definitely worse. I’ve got a wireless car charger so don’t notice if I’m out and about, but my phone died at around 19:30 today having been unplugged at 8am.

Also keypad is annoyingly slow. I’ve tried all the reboot/delete options and it still lags.

Mine is worse on a 12 Pro. It drops to 20% in no time, relatively.

13PM here too and I updated Day1 and it’s significantly worse here.

Not impressed and even debated moving it on and flipping to android earlier this week!

I have a 2020 SE, I think the battery is better since upgrading, phone is also a bit quicker, more 'zippy'. I'm now on 16.02.

Can be changed in the settings.

I have a 13 Pro Max, no problems here at all. Maybe 16.1 will sort it for you? Have you looked to see if any particular apps are draining it?

I have two, iPhone XS (mine) and iPhone 12 Mini (work).

No difference in battery life noticeable in either of them since moving to iOS 16.

Here we go again, history is an invaluable lesson:

The lawsuit alleges that "degrading device performance ahead of product launches may also allow Apple to drum up demand for faster phones with longer battery life."

No difference on my 12 Pro, but there have been reports on the Mac/Apple new sites of a bug affecting some.

I have an X with a battery from just after the first lockdown. Health at 93% and it is not too bad with battery life. I am on the 16.1 PB.

My main issue is that I don't charge it often but it will last a full day if I charge it.

I was on the dev beta from WWDC and it's been reasonable all the way along.

PS: it's worth mentioning that I was happily charging on a wireless dock until iOS16 and since the first install, it heats up stupidly and took my health down from 98% to 93% over the summer. I charge wired now.

My charger until then was excellent....unlike the phone cooking devices we have in our cars that take no time to cook the crap out of the phone (heat cycles are not your friend, battery....)

I avoid wireless charging after using one that 'appeared' to degrade my battery life.

Lots of reports of issues with battery life on IOS 16 and mine was fine on beta but been rubbish since going to the gold master. I'm on a 13 pro.

Apparently the latest beta is better but I've dropped off beta for now.
