Mac users, where is 'cut' function?
Discussion
I'm trying to love my Mac, I really am...
How do I for example 'cut' a file from my desktop and then paste it into a sub folder of another folder (i.e drag and drop doesn't work)?
On a PC it's just a simple case of right click, cut, paste into destination, job done.
It appears that on the mach I have to copy it, paste it, then go back and delete the original file which is an inefficient and unnecessary additional step.
I looked for 'move' but the only move option was move to bin.
I must be missing something obvious.
Any clues?

Command + X should do the trick.
Not for files though (copy works, just not cut)...yet another thing to remember when switching between MacOS and Windows. However, you can 'copy' with Cmd-C then 'move' with Opt-Cmd-V (as per Robsa post)

Dragging to a folder on the same file system moves it. Dragging to a different file system copies. Holding down option makes it a copy even on the same volume.

Another common one is 'where is the delete button?' - the answer is hold down the little globe button in the bottom left of your keyboard and then hit backspace and it will perform a windows 'delete' action.
