They are looking impressive, NVidia have their presentation tomorrow but with all the shenanigans going on with them I think I may be off to the red side next time.

AMD rumoured to not be using the PCIe 5.0 12VHPWR connector on their GPUs. So no chance of melting plugs sockets and fires. Reusable cablemod extensions and normal cable bending tidying to continue.

https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gpu_displays/amd_...

Even Corsair's Johnny Guru in an online post mentioned melting connectors and he was one saying there was nothing wrong.

"AMD's reference RDNA 3 flagship design, their Radeon RX 7900 XTX, reportedly features three 8-pin PCIe power cables."

And if that's a 4090 beater it's drawing way less power than Nvidia.

Radeon 7900 XTX - https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gpu_displays/the_...

"If recent reports from Videocardz are correct, AMD's RX 7900 XT will feature 10752 stream processors and AMD's RX 7900 XTX will feature 12288 stream processors. Both of these GPUs offer users more than two times as many stream processors as AMD's Radeon RX 6900 XT (which has 5120 stream processors). If this is accurate, AMD has the potential to deliver a greater than 2x increase in computational performance with their top RDNA 3 graphics cards. Beyond that, AMD has promised "re-architected compute units" with their RDNA 3 graphics cards, an upgrade that is sure to increase AMD's GPU IPC (Instructions Per Clock/Cycle) and ray tracing performance. "

2x times computational performance is big.

AMD has an opportunity here to swoop in and take over the gaming GPU market if they price aggressively. You just know though that they will scale the price to Nvidia with relative performance so that Nvidia is still the first choice. Hopefully I’m proven wrong.

It’s going to be a little bit confusing this year with both 7000 series AMD CPUs and GPUs coming out.

LTT have used AMD's slider performances and run a 4090 for comparison.

I just hope their drivers are sorted, because if they are AMD will be onto a winner. If you can get hold of a card at those prices.

These predictions are all a load of rubbish. They are based off AMDs own data which will have been selected and worded in such a way to sound as good as possible. The hype train has started on reddit though and I guess that's all AMD needs. I will wait for GN to actually get hold of one though.

I'm waiting for hub to get hold of one.
I noticed the stock of amd mid \ high range cards has gotten very limited recently or staying at a high price.
I jumped on a 6800 at rrp when they came back into stock following the big shortage.

No rush to upgrade, it's going to be interesting what the price and performance of the next level down cards will be.

Not sure the made up charts and guess work do them all that many favours TBH.

It’s all a bit off really as when they launched the 6900 they compared them to Nvidia’s counterparts, this time around they’ve not compared their numbers to the 4090 at all and have compared them to the 30 series GPU’s instead.

Almost like they know they couldn’t compete so tried to save face.

I managed to pick up a 4090FE in the last drop but I did struggle to justify the cost, albeit hundreds of pounds less than the AIB cards. Can’t help but feel that the good $ prices for those new AMD cards will end up being almost as much as the 4090FE when they become available over here as I don’t think AMD bother selling direct to the U.K. market any more, not since Brexit. The AIB cards will certainly carry a premium price tag too. Then you’ve got the retailers pre-scalping prices for our convenience, it’s going to be interesting pricing for sure.

7900 XT and 7900 XTX are out and available. Really don't bother with the XT though.

Huge overclocking overhead though - https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-radeon-rx-...
