Anyone recommend a video downloader that is either free or doesn't cost to much, about £10 would be good.

Also some software that will improve the qualityof videos, got some old videos taken on a old phone that I would like to improve.

Thanks

Do you mean you want to download something that is on youtube or similar ? I use a Firefox extension which is free, Ant video Downloader.
There are other Firefox extensions that do the same.

Yes thanks, downloaded several free ones on Thursday but they were not free, some where trail, some put watermarks in the video, some had a time limitation, I will try Ant.

I am looking for a free alternative. Want to download a bunch of YT videos but want to keep the quality. Looking for more recommendations.

I've yet to find one that doesn't compress them to 720p or less, even thought they claim to maintain the resolution (1080p in my case).

Compresses to a pixelated mess.

I don't think it re-encodes? I use it on a Raspberry Pi so if it was doing re-encoding or compression I'd be waiting all year laugh. Possibly it's selecting a low-quality format from Youtube and using the -f option (or selecting a specific stream) might work?

For YouTube I use the free version on WinX YouTube Downloader which has worked fine for me in the past (I do not use it much, but it does download 4k with no problems).

aTubeCatcher software does everything you need - downloads 4K, source video no conversion and it’s free.
