Can you get a switch for wifi bulbs. I have a Wiz connected light bulb but could do with a physical switch on the wall. Is there a generic product available?

No idea if WIZ do switches but you should be able to get a wifi wll switch easy enough and set up a routine in google or alexa.

But what you really need to know is wall switch operated lights do not pan out well with smart bulbs as someone will switch it off. You can spend £'s on switches or rewire to remove the switch but it always ends up not being a good solution. If using smart kit you want it to be able to be used normally as not every one visiting your house will wants to download an app to turn a light on. Use a normal bulb and a wifi wall switch, sonoff mini or similar.

Cue hundreds of comments that they never have a problem, and grandma has no issues downloading app's in the dark and signing in to your account smile

You can achieve this with one of these using normal bulbs and a normal light switch...

£12 and our porch lights are app controlled with the original physical switch as a manual over-ride.

It's a table lamp. So ideally I'd like a false battery operated switch on the wall. A bit like the hue ones. Thanks

shelly button https://shop.shelly.cloud/shelly-button1-wifi-smar... may be able to create a routine in google or alexa. I have two but use them with Home Assistant. There are other buttons available but without knowing your setup, google home or alexa or whatever it will be difficult to recommend a solution which works.

Just go down the rabbit hole which is Home Assistant and have it do everything automatically. smile It may end up costing a lot of money though.

Have home assistant check the light levels, check who is home, whether the sun has set, if the telly is on and what you are watching then make a decision as to how bright the light should be if it should be on. Don't need a button then confusedlaugh

Home Assistant is so good there's really no point messing about with smart bulbs and the like, especially when they cost a fortune. Just put a Shelly thingy in the back of the light switch and programme it up to use the switch or not use the switch or both.

You can also get wireless kinetic switches that don't use batteries and are wireless

You can get battery operated "scene switches" that you just stick on a wall somewhere and then it tells alexa/google to turn the light on or off
https://www.amazon.co.uk/MOES-Neutral-Required-Wir...

Make sure you get a Wifi one though as they're usually available for Zigbee, Z-Wave and other systems.

Alternatively go to Ikea and you can buy a bulb and a battery operated remote switch that are directly paired together.
eg this one gives you dimming as well as on/off
https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/tradfri-remote-contro...

The Ikea Tradfri stuff uses Zigbee though so you'd need a Zigbee hub if you wanted to control it from Alexa/Google as well, but the newer Echo's have a Zigbee hub built in.
