Samsung S8 phone issue.

Hi folks,
My mums S8 has a problem that started today.
When on a normal call she can’t hear anything even on speakerphone, but if she’s on a WhatsApp call both the earpiece and speaker mode work perfectly fine. Sounds on everything else work fine.
We have done the basics of checking volumes and switching off and on etc.
Only the factory reset remains to be done but don’t really want to do that till I can get to my mums to try and back the phone up first.
Anyone had anything similar or offer any other options before I pay her a visit?
