We've got a Swann CCTV system which until recently has operated flawlessly, now though the time/clock is doing strange things affecting the recording.

The time is resetting itself every two hours so at 11.30, for example, the time reverts to 9.30. This means that over a 24hr period we only have the latest two hours of recordings as it is constantly over writing the latest two hour recording. I've tried a different HD and it does the same thing with both old and new and also changed the back up battery that remembers the time when the recorder is switched off (not that it ever is).

Any ideas?

Have you checked for an update to the system?
Or a factory reset?

Have you got DST enabled? Have you got NTP enabled? Both could be changing the clock. Check settings.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've looked into an update but It's asking for a disc that I don't have. I've done a factory reboot though so I'll see if that makes any difference. Update in two hours! laugh

DST is enabled but there doesn't seem to be NTP available at all.

How do you set the time on it ? Usually you have an option for manual setting or automatic via NTP. I'm assuming it's plugged into the internet?

As suggested above are you setting the time manually, or sync with the internet?
I would be looking at trying a different power supply

Maybe a silly question but what about switching off dst so nothing should be changing the time

Thinking about it, I did have a similar thing with one of the Hikvision where the wrong time zone was set (only spotted on the Web view settings)

This was causing the time to change by 1 hour on random days, 1 hour being the difference of the time zones

The time can be set manually or automatically, I've tried both and it still reverts after two hours.

The power supply suggestion is interesting so I've swapped the camera and recorder supplies and will see what happens in two hours...
