Iphone restore whatsapp backup

Hello

I know there are lots of iphone fans on here so i'm hoping someone can help. Daughter got a new iphone for birthday to replace her old android device. She had special messages/chats in whatsapp she wanted to keep. We backed them up to Google Drive.

Turns out that iphone WhapsApp can't import from anywhere except iCloud? How odd.

Does anyone know if we move the backup from google drive to icloud, could that work?

Thanks yeah saw that, requires that the iphone is fresh/wiped i think, so needs to be the first thing you do. I'll see if thats an option.

Using the google backup would be best approach though. Mad they don't allow it.
