Hi all .. computer chips aren't my thing, i program them as part of my job but I don't really understand the nomenclature so have been buying a couple of types of chip (which I now work in the application ..) for a while but now they seem to be obsolete / unavailable at least for the next year (according to rs/farnell)

the chips I've been using are AT27C256R-45PU and M27C256B-12F6 and have been able to get hold of both those in varying quantities over the years. Now both are showing as unavailable apart from a few on ebay .. but not knowing the ins and outs of chip nomenclature I'm unsure what to use as alternatives into the future .. any help appreciated ..

This is a niche post I suspect, that looks like an OTP EPROM.

With the current chip issues for production around the globe I would bet that manufacturers haven't ran any off and stocks have dwindled.

Maybe try calling up Fanell or similar large scale providers and see what they recommend as a replacement in the mean time?

Digi-Key's alternatives for those are also on lead times well into 2023
There is a supplier named WorldWay Electrical who have good stock levels of both though.

I work within the industry so will have a chat with our purchasing team tomorrow and see if their software can shed any further light

Apologies for the delay but hopefully it's worth it.
There's plenty of stock of both the chips you need it seems.

Not too many in the UK for this one, but Europe is possible

Hope this helps you smile
