I need a new access point (I don't use it as a router but happy to buy a router if I have to, and just use it as an access point).

Not interested in Unifi / Ubiquity gear, and don't need mesh as most of property is hardwired anyway.

Any recommendations please?

Budget up to £100

Thanks.

I would just buy whichever TP Link suits your needs for a simple case like that.

I installed this one yesterday, currently being used as an access point- https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WR841N-300Mbps...

It's very small but seems to work well so far (and it was cheap!)

I'd go on ebay and get a second hand Asus RT-ac68u. This is a unit from around 2013 time which now goes for under £50, but Asus's support means you can officially update the firmware to the latest standard Asus build (using the update option when logged on to it) and therefore use all the advanced features if you ever need them. And the config page therefore looks the same as any new Asus unit.

It can also do the Asus mesh system, if you even had the need to do that in the future (the Asus mesh system you can mix and match any Asus units in one mesh system.
