Quick reed relay question
Discussion
I think you want a Reed Switch as opposed to the Reed Relay shown in the image. The relay contact is operated by applying a voltage to the coil pins creating the magnetic field that moves the contact. The coil is redundant when using an external magnet so Reed switches usually only have two pins. They also tend to be quite delicate and don't handle lots of power so be careful to match the switch to your requirements.

Thanks, have ordered some reed switches - only planning to use them to fire another relay so very low power requirements. Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
