ITV HUB Buffering
Discussion
I normally live in France but I have a new LG Smart TV here in England and a steady 30Mb connection with Vodafone fibre.
I am trying to catch up on series that I have missed, but am repeatedly being plagued by ITV HUB buffering. The router is new but I have still rebooted it as that is what the ITV website says.
Is buffering on ITV HUB a common problem? Is anyone aware of any other fixes I can do on the TV?
Of course, it never buffers during the constant adds for Cupras, or William Hill, but the sound via ARC stutters at the start of a program, or when adverts have been on.

Try streaming from a different device.I am trying to catch up on series that I have missed, but am repeatedly being plagued by ITV HUB buffering. The router is new but I have still rebooted it as that is what the ITV website says.

You could try your phone and cast / airplay to the TV, or use a streaming box (firestick / Roku).
I’ve found that certain devices just don’t stream as well as others, usually TVs or PVRs. Dedicated streaming devices seem to work better.
I tried to watch the live BTCC races on a smart TV via ITV hub on Sunday, and ITV1 service was impossible to watch (approx 1-2 frames per second and no sound). As soon as the racing moved to ITV4 later in the afternoon it was absolutely fine, so it appears that ITV1 is particularly crap.

So, I downloaded the App onto my iPad, found Trigger Point and saw there was a download button. You could try your phone and cast / airplay to the TV, or use a streaming box (firestick / Roku).

Press that and I get the chance to pay £3.99 to watch ad-free and by download.
I now fully understand why the basic is so very poor.
Thanks for your advice, I will give it a go by casting. The Ipcress File was very good, but Trigger point is pretty poor, in comparison.
Designed to drive your insane. Here, watch some adverts for five minutes, they stream perfectly with amazing sound and resolution. Now for your program.... oh noes! Something's gone wrong. Try again? Time to watch those adverts again first! (five minutes later) Here's your program... after one last quick advert. Oh, and a little 'sponsored by' advert. Here we go! Oh dear, it's all pixellated and almost unwatchable.... Time for some adverts! Then you can try again until you have a nervous breakdown

Useless

Today’s little gem is that the App does not support streaming.

When you say streaming, I assume you mean casting / airplay?Useless
Try using the web browser version of ITV Hub, it works OK from there.

so glad its not just me then, gave up on ITV and just use BBC iplayer , seems to always workI & 2 friends have different models of LG TVs. Despite internet connection speeds of 72, 32 & 32Mbs none of the 3 LGs show down load speed of over 24Mbs & 1 never exceeds 15Mbs.
I also have an older 37" Sony that shows download speed of 52Mbs. My Samsung laptop shows 66Mbs
All above speeds are over hard wired connections to routers.
Do all LG TVs show low download speeds?

Could it be the bit rate of the stream rather than the link between router/access point & tv?I also have an older 37" Sony that shows download speed of 52Mbs. My Samsung laptop shows 66Mbs

How do you obtain the Mb/s figure?
Out of all the sreamimg apps on my TV (Samsung Serif) I find them all to he reliable apart from.ITV hub which is rubbish. Frequently drops and kicks me out for no reason back to 'live' TV. Meaning back lnto it and more adverts. Watching the Tour De France was a right pain back in July. Sticking, dropping out. Just awful.
