Possibly a daft question….

I’ve brought my son’s birthday present iPhone upgrade with us on holiday, as I wasn’t able to set it up before we left. We’re not back until September, and it is his birthday next week.

Is there anything I need to be aware / careful of when setting up a new UK purchased / contracted iPhone in Portugal? Specifically - will it matter if the phone/SIM can’t find its “home”network O2 UK?

Or can I just crack on as usual, just as if we were in the UK?

You should be able to set it up without the sim first, as long as you have wifi and his appleid and password.

If it is currently working in his existing iphone, then it should work ok once the new one is set up.

IANT though.

One issue I have encountered with on-boarding a new iPhone is internet connectivity (speed and connection stability), after a long time of the automated Apple set-up wizard saying it is migrating, it can generate an error.
Other than that there shouldn't be any issue doing it from overseas.

It should be fine - I’ve done a couple of iPhones in the USA, UAE and Thailand before without issue
