Is there a way to control the startup of NFC on a phone (android and apple)?

Trying to help an aged relative who is struggling with eyesight issues and dexterity, I thought I could set up some nfc tags with phone numbers and stick them to the photos of her family so that she could ring them by holding the phone to the photo.
Need to have nfc coming on to do this though.

Any suggestions? She has tried a big button mobile but struggled with it.

Isn't NFC always on once activated?

I agree - mine is always on - never have to switch it on after each startup (Android 12 here). It just works.

What about a QR code for each person?

Make a phone book of QR codes, scan the QR code with the camera and ring the person?

Or, use Siri, say say Hey Siri ring Bob.

Can't help with the question but I think the application is a great idea!

Apparently tried these but didn't get good results - struggled to run the scan app and hold steady. Not sure what the problem with siri was - I asked if hey'd tried alexa and was told it didnt work for them.

I was also thinking I could make a dial pad with credit card sized tags and mount it on the wall for her.

tbh I wasn't sure. If it will always be on thats great, but I wasn't sure and given the way the persons health is, wanted to be sure that anything I give her is absolutely fool proof.

Sorry I don't have a suggestion, but having struggled with a similar situation with my mother, it might be handy if you could indicate what you want to achieve.

Do you want her to able to phone for help in case of an emergency, or is it a case of making it easy to phone several people?
