HDMI & VGA feeds to monitor
Discussion
I have recently purchased a new computer and the screen is connected a using the HDMI lead. I stupidly thought that when connecting my old screen via VGA I would have the same output on both screens, but I don't.
The VGA shows my windows background and the bottom bar shows the programs in use, eg Chrome for the internet and Microsoft Word. The cursor moves around the screen but nothing happens if I click the open programs.
Any suggestions please?

How do you want them to work? As duplicates or as an extended desktop?
If duplicates, then unless you have them set to the same resolution they won't work. If your new monitor is higher res that will be your issue as it is that resoltion which is used on both.
As an extended display you 'll need to go into the display settings - right click on your desktop and click on display (or do this through the Start button). I'm using a single ultrawide monitor so I can't be more precise I'm afraid
You should see both screens represented in there (you can click' identify' to be sure which screen is which), and may need to re-arrange them on screen if the layout does not match the physical layout of the two screens (i.e. which one is on the left, and whether they are at the same height - this helps with mouse tracking from one screen to the other).
