Hi all,

Anyone have any experience with Trooli full fibre?

They're just in the process of connecting our village.

Thanks!

Pump your postcode in this..

https://bidb.uk/

We had a flyer to say that it was available to connect, so ordered online, but then noticed that it was a 10 week lead time. Turns out they haven't even finished building the network yet, and to be fair, we are only at six weeks from order.

Seen very mixed reviews, but considering nothing else fibre is available i signed up in the hope that it will be ok!

I asked this some time ago to no replies biggrin

Our town has it, we keep getting flyers and people knocking on the door.

I'm very skeptical which is why I haven't given it a go. They've rolled out very quickly using the government scheme to link up rural areas, I imagine this to mean it goes to the lowest bidder in each area?

They tie you into an 18 month contract at the end of which you will have to pay whatever the hell they want, because you won't have the choice to have the same service with another provider. The flyers offer a £25/month figure for 300Mb with the first month free, which seems too cheap, which leads me to believe it won't be £50/month at the end of the 18 months as is advertised now.

Many of the negative reviews are about delays with installation. All I want to know is if the uptime is as good as or better than Zen, and how long it takes to fix problems when they appear.

I was the first in our village to get hooked up in May 2020. I'm on their 900/300 service which is brilliant compared to the BT fttc it replaced.

Speed tests over 1gpbs down. No service downtime and their support was great when I needed to update their router with VOIP settings.

It's expensive but worth it imo.

What was more expensive was upgrading my mesh system to wifi6 to take advantage of the silly speeds over WiFi.

They are brilliant, I have had mine over 18 months with 100% uptime at full performance

And It allows you to get rid of your landline as well woohoo (mine hadn't been plugged in for 5 years)

The supplied router handles has very good range (i get 75% max download at furthest point in house), you can move your SSID over to the router so you dont have to reconfigure your wireless devices

I ordered in January when they announced for my village. It has been delayed due to civils being required to clear blocked ducting and permission from council has taken time.....
The came to install last week from the nearby point but found a blocked duct to my house - so the civils team will need to called out again (and more delays).
The installation team were great, they added all the internal stuff and the outside connector so it will be a simple task to finish.
So, I am annoyed at the delays but the Trooli teams cannot be faulted.
Everyone I know with an install has been delighted.

Nothing but praise for them. They were a bit more expensive than BT, but then I had an excellent service and it was critical when working from home.

When I looked, they were charging a significant extra monthly fee you want a fixed IP address. They also don’t allow their modem to be set to bridge mode, pretty essential if you want to use your own router.

You can use your own router, they say you can't, but a quick search on the internet will result in how you do it smile

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I've bitten the bullet! Managed to get 6 months free then 18 months at £25 a month, so essentially £18.75 a month for 2 years.

Free install, connection, etc. etc.

Just need to wait 10 weeks for them to finish the village install now.....

Bump

I went for it in the end as over 3 years it works out cost neutral compared to staying with our previous provider, and the free install may not be free forever…

Only been a couple of days, the speed is great but I think the consistency is the most impressive bit. I suppose it isn't much of a surprise given it's a gigabit line that's being restrained to (just over) 300/100.

Unfortunately their terms don’t let you use your own hardware. Luckily the router they went out is a reskinned Technicolour model and I found instructions on how to ssh into it and grab the PPPoE details to plug into my own. If they don’t make any attempt to lock it down I don’t know why they bother.

I have been with them about 6 months. I apparently won a prize in a completion for a discount. So paying £25 a month for 18 months, with free install - except it wasn’t free as there was no duct from the street to the house.

The cost for them to install the duct was high! So I dug my own trench and put my own duct in, which they were happy with.

The service has been good, one outage but advanced notice was given.

By the time my contract is renewed I will have plenty of choice as Openreach have just started installing fibre in the area.

I'd be interested to know more about this if that's OK?

I ordered as soon as our village was added to the website (3 months ago now). They've emailed to say they're slightly delayed so hoping for an install date soon.

The problem I have is that we are up a block paved section at the end of our road. We have also block paved the whole of the front so I'm concerned about how they'll actually get the cable up to the house (about 20m from the road). I have a possible route next to the block paving - I'm not sure the current BT cable is in a duct. Even if it is, we filled in the area by the front door with a ton of concrete to make a porch, covering up all but the plastic cover of the BT cable where it enters by the door.

Unintended consequences!!

Also available by signing up via the website and entering TROOLI25 in the voucher box laugh Or by signing up with a salesman at the front door.

This was about 9 months ago though! It wasnt a general offer then! Probably was by the time the install was done
