Hi all,

I've currently got 1x external monitor connected via HDMI to my laptop. I've a second monitor that I would like to use but I don't have a USB-C connector on my laptop. I've looked on Amazon at DisplayPorts but they all have a USB-C connection - is there any particular type of USB-C to USB adapter I need to look at as a lot of them just make reference to iPhones etc so wondering if they will work?

Or, any other suggestions on how to get 2x monitors hooked up to the lappy?

Thanks

What ports beside the HDMI do you have on the laptop?

I have used one of these before with a 6 year old HP laptop when the HDMI port failed. Not 100% sure if it will compatible with your computer.

What's the exact model of the laptop and monitor you want to attach?
(this will make it easier for us to look up what ports are compatible with both)

Thanks, wasn't looking to spend that much as it's only going to be used a couple of times a week but might consider it thumbup

Dell Inspiron 3505 and it's currently connected to a Samsung U28E590D and I've a second screen that is exactly the same.

I think you can just use a USB-C to USB-B converter, displaylink should still work over it. Only cost a couple of quid on ebay, some of the USB-C docks come with them (like Lenovo ones).

You really won't want Dell's one then...
https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/dell-docking-stati...

But, as below, there's not a lot of options for that machine...and you're already probably missing out on the 4k resolution due to the laptop only having HDMI1.4 (so probably 1920x1080).

Something like this should work, might be able to get a no-name Chinese version for less money.

That's probably more than the laptop! Might need to FUBAR the laptop and get a new one whistle
