Portable WiFi Abroad
Discussion
We are taking the campervan to France next month. It is the first time we have gone abroad since we have had portable WiFi. Will it still work? Our provider is Vodafone. Also will the Amazon Firestick connected to our TV still work or, since we are not in the UK will it recognise this?
You need to check if Vodafone still offer inclusive European roaming on your sim/tariff, check your account or call them. Check there are no download limits.
If not it will cost you, they may do an international 'bolt on' for a daily/weekly fee.
Also check your mobile phone contracts, same applies.

It should work as long as you have roaming enabled on the WiFi portable router. You shouldn't need to check change any other settings.
I've just done three weeks in our Camper in France and Spain using a Huawei router plugged into a roof top aerial, with no problems - used 65GB of data with a Tesco sim card. Received Netflix, BBC iPlayer Ch4 Catchup, Spotify and BBC Sounds with no problem at all.
If you use a UK sim card you will get UK content without using a VPN - if you use a euro provider Sim you will need a VPN to access BBC player etc.
But ... check with Vodafone re their data roaming limits. I have a Tesco (who use the O2 network) sim card in the router, because they were offering no data limits on roaming. I think they have restricted this of new contracts in the last couple of weeks. My 3 phone Sim Card also worked in the router.
