Hi,

I have the requirement to be able to laser etch things like serial and model numbers, logo's and identification symbols etc onto a few items I manufacture ( ABS plastic) as well as existing various items that are also plastic, but can be metal/steel, possibly cloth/Alcantara/leather. I'll perhaps also custom etch specific other items - automotive and general house hold items too.

Knowing nothing about this sort of thing, is there anyone with good pointers for a product that's relatively straightforward to use, perhaps desktop based and perhaps in a price range of up to £4/500 ?

Is there any specific aspects or gotchya's to know about? do such machines need regular or frequent maintenance and upkeep procedures etc?

Cheers, Dennis!

Hi,

I suspect with no responses, I'm asking in the wrong section!

Hopefully one of you PH'ers will have some experience or recommendation with this bumpage !

Cheers, Dennis!

I have no idea about these things but a quick google turned this up on Amazon, would this do what you want?

Sounds like the makings of a good hobby though!

For plastic type materials a rotary tool type machine woulf be better than laser which might burn the plastic.

Something like these should work.
