Is it illegal?

I'm not sure Amazon actually tell you that you can disable purchasing in the Alexa menus... Certainly most the 'what can I do with Alexa' guides from the tech magazines recommend doing this ASAP.
I was on a zoom call where some one had something triggered in their house, so we teased by doing Alexa calls. I did an 'Alexa play baby shark'. Couple of hours later I found one of my own devices, which should have been out of ear shot, had played it - fortunately it could hear my voice, not the speakers on my PC.
As to legality, yeah getting someone to spend their money without being aware or agreeing is some what of a no no even if Amazon, Apple, and Google make it easy and amusing.

Change the wake word to something else. Mine is Computer
I've never really understood why there is a limit of 5 standard wake words to choose from:Alexa
Ziggy
Amazon
Computer
Echo
Given the thing, once "woken" can understand what you say to it, how hard would it be to enable it to use any wake word of your choosing, that you maybe say to it several times when setting it up, then it uses that?

The wake word is processed locally on a device with relatively cheap and unsophisticated hardware, but everything else is processed in the cloud using expensive purpose build hardware. To do it as well locally would require a much more expensive device.Alexa
Ziggy
Amazon
Computer
Echo

Anyone seen the audits of Exeter Police Headquarters, I find these things cringe on both sides but its does show some police officers are mental.
At middlemoor (D&c police) they have a security guard who likes bragging of beating people up when he worked the doors! He basically tells one auditor that is he was younger he would just have beaten him up for trying to film him!
