Fitting a Wireless card to Desktop
Discussion
The USB WiFi sticks work much better than internal cards in my experience.

Not wishing to sound too alarmist but if this PC that you're setting up for the surgery will be having patient records stored in it then please make sure it's running decent protection software and also be aware that there are certain legal requirements around the storage and processing of people's personal data.
Also make sure you have a backup solution as hard drives do fail and I'm sure you won't want to be losing all the data!

she is connecting to a server ran by a service provider on behalf of the medical council which stores data centrally and not locally on the PC. hence the wifi q. but thank you a very good observationNot wishing to sound too alarmist but if this PC that you're setting up for the surgery will be having patient records stored in it then please make sure it's running decent protection software and also be aware that there are certain legal requirements around the storage and processing of people's personal data.

Is there really no spare Ethernet socket nearby (or even a lengthy cable run) that you can connect to? I’m assuming this is a modern surgery?
I asked that and got a resounding 'get your head out of the 90's'... so its a shared practice and they dont want to have cables everywhere. it will be 'white' and 'minimalist'.boholoblanka said:

Check the wifi plays nicely with any microwave that you may have in a kitchen area or similar.white, minimalist and they can't manage to buy iMacs?
