I have had my Samsung tab s6 lite about 6 months now. I'm not a heavy user of it and generally need to charge it every 3-4 days. I would be able to browse online and the battery % barely moved after 30 minutes.

About a week ago I had yet another software update come through. The previous was around April. I'm honestly hesitant to update software because new features and things change which I don't like. Nevertheless, I performed the update as I kept getting annoying reminders.

For the first few days after, I didn't really notice anything. I'm currently abroad now (keep the tablet in an air conditioned room all the time so I don't think temperature is a factor here). I first noticed the problem when I finished using my tablet in the morning and had 30% battery life. After being out all day, I tried to turn on the tablet and had no success and confused why. Connected the charger cable and had 0% battery. I lost 30% battery power by having it sit in a drawer turned off!

I left the tablet for 6 hours turned off overnight and lost 10%. Bluetooth, location are all turned off. Its so disappointing how poor the battery performance has become considering the age of the device and that I'm not a heavy user of it.

When I'm doing general browsing and watching a bit of YouTube I can see the % drop every 5 minutes or so.

I did have a little look on samsung forum and it seems that some people are saying the recent software update has made their battery drain fast.

I'm aware some companies push updates to slow their devices down and perform worse. I can only think that either Samsung are making their devices worse on purpose and slowing them down /killing the battery to push people to buy new devices. Or alternatively, they're rolling out updates without testing them properly. Either way, both are completely unacceptable.

The only other thing I can think of is the hotel Wi-Fi is constantly doing something on my device to drain the battery. I won't know for sure until I return to the UK. I did turn off Wi-Fi for a bit and it still drained when turned off.

Has anyone experienced this or any ideas about resolving it?

The device is covered by warranty so I will be taking it up with Samsung on my return. The other option is to try and roll back the update some how and see if the issue disappears. Alternatively, wait for another update to see if it improves (or makes it even worse!)
