How to backup old photos from an old MacBook?

I have an old MacBook white
Really old but has loads of kids photos I would like to backup to the cloud and then be able to view online.

What’s the options and best way to do this?

Any number of online services available, iCloud, Google photo, Amazon photo or a simple dropbox account will allow you to move them into the cloud. If you want to move them from one machine to another you can use WeTransfer or a USB stick. Depending on the amount of photos and your internet speed it might take a while.

Might be easier to usb them to a more modern machine first as if it’s that old you may struggle to get cloud stuff working on it.

How do I check how much data iPhotos I have to see if it’s worth getting a usb stick first before doing it on a more modern computer for speed as mentioned

I already have a 2TB iCloud shared with family at 700gb

Is Amazon or Google free for what storage limit?

Not trying to be flippant, it sounds like some step by step instructions would be helpful.
