Does anyone know if once you have set up the Omada on a laptop, it continues to work after laptop is removed.

I want to set up the mesh network in the house, have four TP115 access points powered from a TP POE switch.

Looking at the instructions is says set up on a pc. But doesnt say if the pc needs to be permanantly present in the network for it to work.

Many thanks

Simond

Yes it will work.

A very few features such as captive portal’s won’t work.

The biggest issue is the loss of metrics, so if you do have some intermittent issues unless the management pc is up you won’t have logs to help debug

Just to add if you wanted a controller but not having your pc on 24/7 they do a hw controller the oc200 ~£70

Allows you to manage the switch assuming it’s also Omada and the ap’s

Thank you.

Done. Was much easier than i expected.

I did set up a "guest" access but maybe this was a bad idea as it isnt doesnt appear to be protected

My guest is protected, I’m not aware that protection requires the controller, as your main WiFi is protected that would suggest you missed a step in setting up the guest WiFi.

I’d go back into the controller and check the security settings for the guest.

Sorted. Appreciate your help.

Just need to add the outside point now, but that'll wait till the kids are here to go up the ladder!
