Hi All,

Hoping I can pick brains of any S22 owners here.

I am due an upgrade from my 2 year old S20, I've had Samsung phones (but a MacBook and iPad!) for about 6-7 years now.

Usually I just dive into the next Samsung, I much prefer them to iPhones personally. However I've paused for thought this time because EVERY review says the battery is somewhere between poor and average.

I am keen to know what "real world" experiences people are having with theirs.

Typical day for me would be maybe 20 mins web browsing, 40 mins streaming music whilst training, odd bit of WhatsApp, and anywhere from 30 mins to 4 hours of phone calls.

My S20 has held up alright, though noticed battery getting worse very recently. I average about 2 hours screen on time and end the day with between 15% - 30%.

How has your real world experience been, as it tends to be lots of reviews/comments are people who expect to be streaming high def YT content, creating videos and playing lots of games (which just isn't how I would use a phone)?

Many thanks in advance.

C G

I posted similar in the Galaxy S22 thread, but no issues with the one the wife has been using for a couple of months.

My experience of Samsung phones in general is the battery life is a lot better when at home on Wifi than when out and about on a mobile data connection.

I can't help feel with my modest use it wouldn't be a problem!

I think you'd be fine. I don't use the phone myself but I looked at the battery chart on it a couple of weeks ago when someone else asked and it was in the low 80s after a few hours off charge and 1h15 of screen use I think.

Anecdotally, on my Galaxy S20 FE the battery life is better with the adaptive battery disabled and automatic "put apps to sleep" disabled and me manually putting a couple of power hungry apps into sleep mode.

Curiously I swear the battery on my s22 has got better since I've owned it. When I first got it, it wasn't lasting as long as my nearly 5 year old oneplus 5 and I was pretty annoyed with it, but now it goes more than a day without a charge. Its really odd.

The only thing that bothers me is that Samsung os is more intrusive than oneplus.

I know you say base model , however Iv just got the ultra so maybe it compares. The battery on this seems to last 1 day easily with heavy use , and iv always been in the habit charging my old Note9 when I sleep , so I do with this too. However I have just discovered the turn off rapid charge button so i have given that a go. I religiously wait until 20% discharged before I give a full battery charge too. Has worked wonders in the past with previous Samsungs
