Help.
I need to crop a music track (with lyrics) which will be played at an important occasion.

Is there anything which won’t make it sound like I really butchered it.

macOS software ideally.

Thanks.

I would imagine quicktime or iMovie could do that. Both should be installed or free for a mac.

Audacity…. free download.

However it’s still entirely possible to butcher it if you don’t know what your are doing.

Thank you all. Much appreciated.

Downloading it now.

If it looks too complex for me to get a decent result - will look for recommendations to farm it out for someone with talent for £ Shillings and pence.

Right click on the track in iTunes and bring up the track info. Here you can set the start and end time for the track but it will abruptly cut in and out. To get around this you could download a silent song from Brett Black and put it either side of your shortened track. Select playback in preferences and enable crossfade which should mean your edited track fades in and out. I haven’t tried this but don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

I have a track which is 4:40 long...
Which the clincher bit is in about 3 mins.

I need to get the from the inrto to the clincher in about 90 seconds or thereabouts,

This is going to be the challenge,

Just use a free online website. Upload a file, crop it and download it.

I don’t mind doing it if you get stuck. I’m not a pro but I’ve done stuff like this before. No charge obvs.

Sounds like you are sorted, but I can also recommend Da Vinci Resolve (the free version). It's a fully featured video editor but also has comprehensive audio editing features that you could use to do what you are asking.

It's not that simple, but there are loads of free tutorials on YouTube to get you started.

(Warning, it's quite addictive once you get into it!)

Resolve's audio features can do anything the majority of amateurs/semi-pros want.

I'm with you that it is addictive. It is also comprehensive. Colour correction is a breeze. Video editing so good that I've cancelled my subscription to a well-reviewed subscription service. Resolve does more.

No probs. Just let me know on here when you've sent it please, as my email host is a bit rubbish.

You mention playing at an “occasion”? How “public” is it? You may need to check out PRS…

If it’s just a short snippet of one song at a small works presentation or something unlikely to be an issue.
The venue may already have something in place anyway.

I’m not expert btw, just making the suggestion/comment to check out.

Can't you just ask the DJ to start it at 90s in?

Plan B.
But would prefer the intro in there also. Hence the ask.
