I wonder if anyone out there can help with this please?

My wife and I are currently in the process of buying a holiday home in rural France. The current owner tells us that the wi-fi connection is strong and it has the added benefit of a booster for outdoor areas.

However, because the internet has become such an important part of modern day life and business, I need to be sure that I can get a reliable, adequate speed service, if the standard service turns out not to be as good as he has promised!

So, my question is, if the wi-fi connection at the property is not great, can I install a dish and get satellite broadband, and will it be reliable and rapid?

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks Skilly, will take a proper look at that.

Have you heard good things about them?

Would I get a decent speed and relatively consistent service? (Obviously if there's a bad storm, that would likely effect it).

Yes it works very well, you just need to check they cover your area. 70-100 mbs down. Waiting list around 6-9 months when I got mine, not checked recently.

Thanks Skilly and Guy - Starlink certainly looks promising, if required.

Many thanks both for your help

I might have just been lucky, but a recent order was fulfilled within 2 weeks. Dish and separate accessories.

I presume that you already realise that Wi-Fi and Internet are 2 completely different things. You can have a fantastic Wi-Fi implementation and a useless Internet service or you could have a brilliant Internet service and a useless Wi-Fi implementation.

It's the Internet service you need to worry about - Wi-Fi can be fixed.

it sounds like the backhaul to the property maybe wireless rather than cable (xDSL or whatever) and end up getting called WiFi...
