Tried searching for this but couldn't find a definitive answer, if I plug our old sky cable (from the dish) into the satellite input on our LG C1 TV, will freesat channels work? Or do I still need a freesat sky or other box to get most of the free channels?

Cheers

It depends what LNB you have on your dish. Certain Sky ones don't work with Freesat.

You can get the LNB replaced though.

The simplest option would be to plug it in and see what happens.

I do exactly this - an old dish for Sky+ into our C1. It has freesat built in so you get the program guide etc.

I have done this for the past 3 years. You only have 1 input so no recording / pausing but works fine.

If you had your Sky dish changed to work with Sky Q though it won't work I believe.

Is there nothing in the TV manual about it? I've got a Toshiba TV, that has a satellite socket on the back of it, but I seem to recall that when I looked, the manual doesn't mention it at all. I didn't investigate too much as I don't have a dish.

Should work fine - you just need to go to the programme tuning menu & tell it to use satellite rather than aerial.

Most of the channels will have different numbers, but you soon get used to it.
