I wonder what the release will do to prices of the 5800XCD and 5950X?

Currently running a 3800X here with decent mobo and 32GB of decent DDR4. Plan was to upgrade to a 5950X at some point, not that I need all those cores, but the XCD is complicating that.

Now i've dithered so long, maybe a new MB, 7700X or 7900X and new DDR5 might make more sense. Mind you, I need a new graphics card too, so maybe a new system - but then all that reinstalling and reconfiguring.... duh.

I'm looking to retire my i5 2500k so will be interesting to see where the new Intel CPUs come in. Even the 7600X should be a good upgrade for me.

These look really good but not enough to tempt me into upgrading for a few years as they would need a whole new motherboard and RAM setup. My current 5900X will do me for the forseeable future.

Let's hope AMD follow the example of the AM4 socket and support the new AM5 socket for a good few years. Intel changing their socket/board chipset every couple of CPU generations just screws over the consumer .. Especially if you bought into the CPU generation after the socket launch as you then have absolutely nowhere to go for a CPU upgrade down the line (other than secondhand sourcing a better model from that same generation)......

Spoiler alert, the 7600x is a faster CPU than the 5800x3D in some games....

That is the cheapest entry level Zen 4 CPU beating the previous "best gaming CPU". Wonder what the other Zen 4 CPUs can do.

And that wasn't using fast RAM either.

Not a massive surprise. The 5600x was a big step from the 3700x too.

New boost control is interesting. Basically get the clocks as high as possible without going over 95C, meaning your cooler is just as important as your CPU choice for maximising performance. Not great for power consumption though unless you underclock it manually.
