I’ve got an old Moto G (2nd gen) phone that I was going to download the BMW connected app onto to use on my GS.

I’ve already got it on my apple but I don’t really want to risk that as there are several reports of the vibration damaging them.

I got a cheap SIM card and found my old phone which was lying in a drawer and is at least 5 years old and is running on Android 6 which doesn’t appear to support the app I want.

I can’t get any upgrades as it says it’s already up to date when I try to check (which it obviously isn’t)

I’ve read that those phones should still be able to be upgraded. Do you think mine is a dead loss and I should just get a newer phone? Or is there a way to force an upgrade?

If it that old then it is likely to be too old for the latest updates.
Maybe leave it connected for a day or two to see if it picks up any updates.

A brand new MotoG 22 is £150 with the MotoE series phones even cheaper.

Moto G will of only got certain support so Android 6 is about right. You could try to flash a newer ROM on it from XDA developers.

What vibrations are you scared of on your iphone? Sure I read somewhere it was vibrations caused from motorcycle use.

The BMW GS is a motorcycle … the vibration will destroy the camera by all accounts - how widespread or true that is I’ve no idea

I missed the GS bit! I hang my biker head in shame.
