At the end of this month we go over to Ireland for a week. We're staying at my FiL's house. He passed away last year, the house is for sale and vacant. Heating and electric is still on but the Sky contract which covered TV and broadband was switched off some time ago, although I believe the (admittedly old) equipment remains.

With thoughts of Ireland in May and two small children, not to mention two adults thoughts turn to indoor entertainment.

Earlier I thought about contacting Sky to see if they would switch things back on (using my account) for a week, but from when we moved house I don't believe you can have two houses under one account name at the same time.

Are there any other options?
The house is close enough to "the border" to pick up Irish networks and have you paying a fortune for calls and data if you're not careful so we don't really want anything phone-contract based.

Is there such a thing as a PAYG broadband router?

Have you got your own Sky box? If so take the box with you and plug it into the dish. Need to check if it's a Q or HD box as the LNB on the dish has to be correct.

The existing box should still get free to air stuff, BBC etc. I'm sure Irish TV has kids programmes. Take some books

Probably cheaper versions, but I have this for when I’m at our holiday home and it’s superb. Great for streaming TV and general internet duties.

Just pop a £10-16 / month sim in to get between 100Gb and unlimited data.

Can't you get some sort of 4 or 5g broadband and use your sky go account?

Have you checked what the roaming charges will be on your mobile? It may be easier to set up a hotspot from your phone and plug in a firestick/chrome set to the TV. The kids could also connect their devices.
