I left my iPod connected to my car's docking cable for a few days and now it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

The screen is blank (off) and even connecting it to my PC to charge does nothing. I can feel the battery getting warm from being connected, though.

Thanks.

Thanks, yeah, just tried the thing about putting it on a table.

Still dead. :/

Edit: sorry, it's 3rd gen if that makes any difference.

Does iTunes recognise it if you plug in to PC / Mac? If it does, perhaps a restore will revive it.

If not… I think it will be time to look at eBay

Nope, nothing.

I wonder if leaving it plugged into the car killed it? It didn't say it was charging and the screen went blank every time I left it for a few minutes so I thought it would be fine. Came back a couple of days later and nothing. I also plugged it into an old docking speaker and it could see there was something attached to it (the docking display went from a random radio station to "ipod" but it wouldn't play).

Did you say 'third generation nano'? As in 2007 model?! When was the last time the battery was replaced? Battery is probably toast. You can still buy batterys for them on eBay I think, and changing it isn't that hard IIRC.

Ah right. Is that because I left it in the glove compartment when it was warm?

Well, just because it's a very old battery really.

PS your user name always makes me laugh!

Probably just a 15 year old battery.

Annoying. First time I've done this. Will sell it on ebay as "spares or repairs".

Dude. You can buy a battery for about £15 and change it yourself using fairly rudimentary tools.

I watched the video. I haven't got the eyesight for it. Also, I bought this for £10 and they come up regularly for around that price, anyway.

Gonna let it drain (assuming it's got charge in it) and come back in a few months' time!
