Google sign in required after 30th May
Discussion
Google keep sending me emails regarding their security requirement from 30th May to sign in to any Google accounts using Google sign in.
It sounds like I'm going to lose access via my Outlook 2010 based PC email programme.
That's a problem as I use it to store PST archives of all my emails (going back to my initial BT Talk21 account from 2001).
Is there a way round this?
Can Outlook security be updated to comply?
I've never had my email hacked in over 20 years of use, so I'm a bit miffed that Google have made this decision for me and won't let me continue as things are at my own risk.

Google have been trying to force everyone to use their st web interface for years, though the last couple it has been by dating software. Actually thought they had already locked out Outlook 2010. Might be worth you looking in to the cost of an Office 365 subscription as that will provide the latest version which Google are accepting (or are probably legally prevented under anti-competition laws from blocking) 2016 onwards.
It does remind me about around 5+ years back when Google would send you an email to check your security. As soon as you clicked on the link and went to their security page it automatically changed the setting to stop you accessing your email from any non-Google program until you realised and changed the setting back (which also brought up warning emails).

I always recommend eM Client as a really good, free (for up to 2 mailboxes) alternative to Outlook:
https://www.emclient.com/?lang=en
From your perspective this has two advantages:
1. Supports Google OAuth ( https://www.emclient.com/blog/google--less-secure-...).
2. Allows you to import from other email clients or PST files ( https://www.emclient.com/blog/import-data-from-oth...).
In your position, I'd give that a go.

I’ve just updated from Outlook 2010 to Outlook 2021 with no issues. It sounds like I'm going to lose access via my Outlook 2010 based PC email programme.

I purchased the full Office suite for £20.
I imported all the pst files (x 8) including Gmail and all working perfectly.

Mind if I ask where you got Office Suite for £20 (you can tell me to mmob - I won't be offended)?
Not sure if I’m missing something here, but Outlook works fine for Gmail for me, try this guide?

Is the part at the bottom of that guide about allowing access by less secure apps possibly relevant?https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-a-g...

Having updated to Office 2021 I'm now unable to access my Gmail account, which is a proper pita.
I was hoping that Outlook 2021 would work, but it clearly doesn't.
Not at all happy with this.
Anyone know if /how Outlook 2021 can be used to login to Gmail?
It definitely works. Currently using Outlook 2021 for 12 email accounts, 2 of which are gmail.I was hoping that Outlook 2021 would work, but it clearly doesn't.

From memory it was the easiest to migrate and didn’t even need the pst file or any settings other than the password. It just worked.
