Very Dim Torch needed- Options on what to buy?
Discussion
I would like to buy a non-very-bright, very-warm-white torch.
Application is looking after a new born child, without waking up the other parent.
We also have a plug in very low level red night-light, but we would also like something we can carry around and or have under the pillow for additional light so see details. Childs face, breast feeding, etc. without being stupidly harsh.
Thoughts welcome.

Old school non-LED Mini Maglite if you can find one.Application is looking after a new born child, without waking up the other parent.

You can have retina searing, programmable (by button press sequence) torches that also ramp down to moonlight output and can last months usage on 18650 lithium cells, AA versions are also available. I have a Zebralight, single 18650 and often use it as a bedroom nightlight in the pitch black nights of the North of Scotland. Place on bedside table pointing at the roof for diffuse results. Doubles as a great bike light too. Is this your first child dhutch? I only ask, as most babies can sleep happily through a fair amount of light, so making the room pitch-black isn't critical.
I have a lot of these plug-in motion lights in the bedrooms/hallways, motion-activated and plenty of light to see with: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001B1YEAO/ref... Currently £8 for three, which is cheap. They give a reasonably warm wash to the room, ideal for moving around, or checking children/babies.
If it's really too bright, then put some electrical tape over some of the light.

Maybe check out your local grow store, if you have one, for a green torch/flashlight.
Just a thought.

I recently bought a Lumintop FW3EL torch on the basis of a recommendation in the torch thread.
As well as the usual varying levels of brightness it also has a ‘candle’ mode which is very dim so seems like what you are after.
I would support other posters and say my experience is young children will not have their sleep disturbed by a normal torch.

I am not worried about the child, they sleep soundly as you say, else are already awake. The person effected by the light coming on is the parent who isnt attending the the child, typically, me.
Hence trying to have an easy option for my partner to have good light, easily, without it being too powerful.
