Anyone getting one of these, I watched the unpacking and all they spoke about was the camera pretty much, I'm going to replace my trusty S9+ but to complicate matters my works phone was upgraded to an iphone 13 today hehe

I picked up the S21 Ultra last year. The S22 Ultra does appear to have moved the game on a bit but I'm still to be convinced it's worth the upgrade

Samsung will give me £570 as a trade-in but that still leaves a chunk to spend. Free gifts are fairly useless to me and not worth a great deal to be sold.

Yep, I just preordered the S22 ultra 256gb in black.
My Galaxy s9+ has been great only real issue is the battery life is not great anymore.

Dont realy need it should probably have gone with the s22+ or even the standard but I thi k they are doing 4 years updates and 5 years security. So will probably have this for 5 years my man maths says that's not too expensive.

Delivery on the 26th.

I figured fk it I like new gadgets so just went for it.

If I had the S21 ultra I wouldn't have been upgrading, the cameras seem identical or near as damit. Processor is a tiny bit faster but unless you benchmark it I doubt you would notice.
Only thing I wish it had was a flat screen so you could get a glass screen protector for it but my S9 screen is still in pretty good nick.

S22 Ultra ordered in green despite having no need for it whatsoever. Will have a play and see how it compares to my Pixel 6 Pro. £290 for my old 3XL and the headphones mean I should be able to shift it without losing anything.

Yep, that's where I've ended up I think. I've got a Galaxy tab and hardly ever use the S Pen...

Exactly the same here. Free gifts are buds pro, I got those as a free gift last year and they only appear to be going for about £100 on a good day on ebay even though they are supposedly worth £219. The 5 year security and 4 year OS updates are being rolled out to other Samsung devices too so that is another reason not to bother with an upgrade, I can see myself sticking it out the full term until it's no longer supported, doing my bit for the planet biggrin

In 4 or 5 years they should have a lot of clear daylight between current phones and 2026 models, better start saving for the £2k that will be needed to buy one by then.

I have a s20 plus and on comparison my phone has a slower cpu but better resolution screen and also can use a sd card. The base s22 doesn't even have 45w charging!

Tempted. Iv got a galaxy s9 normal size. Battery is no longer lasting, barely used and its now on 34% since 5am, thats not even 5 hours. Can trade it in for 169 bringing to phone to 600. Also was about to pull the trigger on disney+ litterly this week. So that's a further 80 I was going to spend anyway. Iv also not got earbuds but doubt I'd ever use them. So in reality I'm looking at 520 + earbuds

Or i can get an s20 on amazon for little over 300. Choices.

After having loads of issues with my Pixel 6 Pro, culminating in several warranty exchanges I'm selling that and will be watching the reviews of the S22 Ultra with interest. I've learned the lesson not to pre-order phones now - going to let them get properly reviewed, let other users find the issues and will probably pick one up in a month or so all being well. It'll be my first non-Google phone since the Nexus 6P.

I actually prefer the look of the S21 Ultra (and by extension of that, the S22), the camera housing with the slight wrap-around looks much better than just the cluster of lenses. I also understand Samsung have calmed down a little with their UI overlay and hopefully I can just uninstall or hide all their pointless apps which Google do better anyway.

Hopefully they'll still be doing their trade-in offer when I come to buy as they're currently offering £270 off the S22 with a trade-in of a Pixel 2 XL which is more than it's worth on eBay etc. Have currently reverted to my 4 XL which I'll continue to use for the time being whilst I get the 6 Pro sold and which will remain my backup device.

Will be interested to hear the views of those who get their new S22s at the end of the month - please let us know the good, the bad and the ugly!

I've actually found my self using the 'free' Buds much more than I thought, I was also given a Galaxy Watch 4 as present recently, so I've essentially gone from been 'locked into' Apple hardware a few years ago to now been tied into Samsung smile

The S21U has really been impressive, the S22U looks just as good I think the sylus integration is a good thing, anyone upgrading from a S9 will see a big jump in performance for anything.

I recon I will keep my S21U till the Galaxy fold phones are a few more generations old. With the watch am realizing alot of stuff like checking notifications/time cam be done without touching the phone, so size becomes less of an issue, which is probably the my only compliant of the S21U its big/no that much smaller than the Fold closed.

I waited for the S22 specs, not the plus or ultra. Mainly to get a smaller phone and a 4k capable front camera I’ve gone with an iPhone a 13 mini. Always had Android and some things about iOS are pissing me off already but not enough to return it. The middle of the Android market seems to have lost its way from my perspective.

How long have you had the 9+ before it's battery started to piss you off though? It's all very well them saying they'll support the software for 5 years, but not much use if everyone replaces them in 3 years because the batteries die. My S10e's battery is starting to get a little short for comfort after 2.5 years

The latest Android update has allowed an option to stop charging at 85% on my S21U. The battery life is so good even at 85% charge starting the day I rarely end the day with less than 30%, so using the battery between 30-85% will help longevity a lot. I also avoid fast charging, hopefully the battery on these latest phones will last much better than the S9 gen devices.

I went for it. Went for 256gb option for 659 after trade in. So 160 for my old s9 that I can buy new on amazon for less. Nice. Cant get my Disney plus now until 11 march! Never realised you need to use the actual new phone to get a code for it and cant apply for my ear pod things until the 25th? Oh well haha.

I hadn't realised the S22 is actually a bit smaller than S21, I've been trying to find a sensible sized replacement for my S10 for a while now. €869 is a bit eye watering though, and I can't find if it's dual sim or not

Pretty sure it is dual sim, according to gsmarena anyway. Battery is smaller than the S21 though, 3700 vs 4000.

I was going to hold onto my S20 for another year or so as its paid off next month (£26 a month) but typical I lost it on Wednesday so am getting a replacement today off the insurance which is refurbished so this may tempt me to get the S22.

Seems a bit generous too, I would save £8 a month on Disney plus, get some earpods and they are offering £330 for my phone, works out at £11 a month to the first year net with some earpods.

I'm tempted!

That is an entirely fair and valid point, and to be honest I just used it as an excuse in my head to justify the purchase.
I totally don't need it I just want it.
