Car phone holder that actually works
Discussion
I need a phone holder for my A32 thats going to hold it securely and not fall off the windscreen.
I have had a few over the years and they seem to be of poor quality and either fall off the screen overnight or lose their rigidness on the arm etc.
I dont mind spending money on a good one, I have to drive around 3000 miles using sat nav on my phone shortly so a decent mount is kind of a requirement!
TIA

For windscreen mounts, These are seriously good - I use them in many cars : https://www.halfords.com/technology/mobile-phone-a...
All windscreen ones will have issues as they can't cope with the switches between daytime and night time temperature fluctuations and the associated moisture changes.
About 3 years ago - after years of annoying screen mounts - I switched to a phone holder which clips to the air vents and have never had another issue. Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078MX19GJ
Just make sure you get one with a release button at the top on the rear, not lower down, else it'll trigger when the car goes over a bump and it taps against the dash.

Having suffered similar issues in the past i bought one of these.

Its not pretty but it certainly works and hold the phone at just the right height for easy navigation.

I've had various over time, this is the present one I'm using and it's not fallen off in almost a year and a half.
I bought this one yesterday - been using it all today with no problems at all. I like the fact it has dual vent clips, which seems to keep it firmly in place.

Been using a CD Slot one for a couple of years, been faultless.
+1 (well, +2, since I have one in each car).Both of them, these. And when one broke, they replaced it quickly and without dispute;

I've bought Megamounts stuff for me and the wife. Work ok on big stuff like Samsung S20.
Same. It's quite nice being able to just throw the phone onto the dash rather than clamp it trying to avoid side buttons etc. Easy to switch between portrait and landscape, and if you use a case, the plate just slips underneath it.The only downsides are that the plate can block wireless charging, and if don't use a case, you'll have to stick the plate onto the back of the phone.
Update for anyone searching in the future. The cradle failed today driving down a b-road went over bit of a bump (nothing too serious) and the phone shot off the windscreen.
I assumed it had just lost suction but then I realised the suction cup was still on the window and the phone and half the cradle were now in the footwell.
Was going to try and glue it back together but the spring inside had also come out which looked nigh on impossible to get back in. So I called Amazon and they sent me a replacement, which was nice.
/Cool story brah.

I found those £1 ones that attach to your air vent work the best. Just don't blast hot air out of the vent you're using or your phone will crash. Curiously, in summer, it's better than those windscreen ones as they just sit in sunlight and heat up as you drive along. Whilst the £1 crap ones sit the phone in front of the cooling air vent and so the phone keeps cool.
