I'm getting wrist & forearm pains after an intense period of PC work & came across these vertical or slanted ergonomic mice like the Logitech:

Does anyone use one & can comment on good points/bad points? £93 is a lot of money to shell out just to try one.

I have one and have used vertical mice for a few years. Every one I’ve had has helped eliminate any pain in my hand. I have to say the Logitech MX isn’t worth the premium over a £20 Anker vertical mouse I upgraded from. Yes it’s better but not £70 better. I’d try an Anker first to see if you can get on with the format. Took me about two days to get used to it but no looking back.

It might sound surprising but the most comfortable mouse I've ever used is the relatively cheap 'Advent' brand (silver on top, black sides and base) from Currys/PC World.

Been using one for the last 10+ years at work for CAD use. Cured the constant aches and twinges I was getting in my wrist and accross the back of my hand.

Ive got an Evoluent one which are a bit pricey but I needed one with three buttons (rather than two buttons plus the wheel) as in my CAD software you have to hold the middle button down to rotate the model, and the springs on the wheel are often stiffer than the springs on the buttons which was putting strain on my index finger.

The change in angle definitely made a difference and feels more natural to me. Struggle to use a normal flat mouse now.

Yep, I've got something similar after my wrist started to hurt from playing too much Civilization, or more specifically the underside of my wrist where it rubbed on my desk.

I wouldn't waste 93 quid for an experiment.

Try this:

or this:

And if you get on with them, consider getting the logitech then.

Another vote for Evoluent, series 4 or series D. They come in different sizes, right and left hand. Was recommended by occupational health and we got a second one for home

Thanks everyone, most seem to have a positive view of them.

I've looked at the Evoluent D & needless to say I'm right on the border of Medium & Large so I don't know which would be better. The Medium is £110 & the Large is £146 which is a right con. There's a few on ebay for reasonable prices so I might give one of those a try.

RSI sufferer here.

I tried all sorts of stuff, then opted for a trackball. I've got an EX-G but only because it's for left hands. I still get a bit of pain, but only after hours a day for a few days. I've also got a Perixx trackball for my right hand (bit ambidextrous). It's better, but they don't do one for us sinisters.

I have the logi vertical and an mx master 3 on my desk and can't use the latter any more - it feels completely unnatural.

On the flipside to the post above, MX Master is just so nice and comfortable, these vertical mice on the other hand, urgh! laugh

I've got the Anker one and I've found it very good for the past 3 years.

If you're an employee, you should get your boss to pay for it.

I don't

But I can say a soft touch/silent mouse is much much better than the off the shelf variety

Thread bump (rather than starting a new thread). Seems like the Anker verticals were a popular choice a couple of years back. Is this still the case, or is there something better out there? Would be used for work only, needs to be wireless and withstand being chucked in my laptop bag on a regular basis as I'd use it both at home and in the office. Ideally under £20, so this...?

That's the one I use every day. Up to 12 hours and it's totally fine.

I ended up with an Evoluent 4 from ebay. I think I paid around £40 for a wieless one.

The Anker ones are great. There's a few non-name brand versions too. They clearly all come out of the same factory. They're good value too, though I've been through a couple as they die after a couple of years.

I've moved to a Logitech MX Vertical now though and it's a much better quality bit of kit.
