For a supposedly adult ( 53 today ! ) I'm getting a bit excited about this ... I've only ever had work Android phones until about 6 months ago when I also started using a hand me down iPhone 6.

I preferred the 6 to the mid tier work Android part and have used it enough for me to say to hell with it I'm going to buy myself a 13 Pro Max.... If I can get hold of one !

I also use a Sony RX100 IV as a walk round cam so I'm hoping the quality of the phone cameras can if not replace be good enough to augment the Sony in everyday use.

Is it essentially the same as the 12 with a slightly better processor and cameras? My daughter wants a new phone so I am hoping the 12 comes down in price once the 13 is released.

Happy Birthday!

There hasn't been any game changing improvements for some time now aside from slight improvement in camera (which I don't notice for my usage) and slightly quicker speeds, which again I don't notice for my usage.

Seen as the 12 was a new design last year or a remake of the 5, I’d assume like has been said that it’s just gonna be a better camera and slightly faster processor. We will find out next week when Apple have the event on the 14th.

I got the inside scoop...

- It'll have some iterative improvements

- The screen will have some extra brightness or something, meaning your poxy 12 or earlier screen which was the best thing since sliced bread the hour before the keynote will be literally CRT technology afterwards.

- It'll be even more expensive, because chips and supply chain (ignore the fact we're a $2tn+ market cap company though)

I'll be buying one, to replace my XS Max.

Yes, refinement really. Rumours are just same shapes/sizes, better CPU, better camera, better battery, possibly a smaller screen notch, possibly always-on display like the watch.

I've gone 3 years with an XR, ready for an update now.

Thankyou :-)

I will be watching the 12 carefully before I buy to see if I can grab a bargain if the specs are very similar ....... Have to admit though that after using iPad Pro's since they introduced the 120hz screen that certainly is a selling point for me ....

I wonder why they’ve dropped the traditional S update after a year now

Because it's one louder.

6/6S sounds like the same phone, 12 to 13 sounds like a new phone (probably)

Same difference in reality though

There's an iPhone 14 coming out? Wow, Up until the last couple of weeks I've been happy with my ex-work 6S, some apps now need a newer IOS than it can run so I've just bought an 8. I can cope with Class Dojo being out of date but if they nerf Clash of Clans.....

This becomes less and less exciting every year. I have an X which is running iOS15 PB8 and it's more than fine; I have no need to upgrade yet, having dropped a new battery in it this year. From a 6, it's totally worth upgrading....but consider also the 12 that may well be discounted to get rid of the last stocks.....

My 8 is on its last legs so will be looking to get a 13/whatever they call it this iteration. If I was on an X, 11 or 12 there would be no chance I'd upgrade. Just need some crypto assets to bounce back to finance it...

Wonder if this one will be compatible with high performance motorbikes?

Might consider the 12 but I really want the 120hz screen and improved camera .... To be honest for me this will be a small tablet / camera ( I'm hoping it will replace my Sony RX as my walk around cam ) as the main focus and a phone is a handy bolton !

I reckon by the 14 there will be a model or two without a charge port … possibly a sport totally waterproof job ?

My iPhone 7 battery is starting to get crappy, only charging in the car on the way home will see me through the day, was going to get a 12 mini…. Work approval system is so slow it’ll be cleared in time for the 13 mini in a month or two

To be fair to apple their life cycles are pretty good now

I’ve had a XS max for 3 years and have no plans to change it for anything for another couple of years so 5 years out of it..

I’ve a 2015 Mac and with an external SSD plugged in via USB it fair zips along on BigSur

I can remember chopping phones in every year and PCs needing upgrades constantly.

They also just fixed my daughters 2 year old 11 that the battery had got down to 75% on as she’s on it all the time for free.

New battery and new display, so basically its like new.

I used Apple stuff years ago but switched to Android phones and Windows laptops.

I've always still had an iPad.....Recently though I've decided to go all in Apple again, having replaced my laptop with an M1 MBP, my work laptop with an Intel MBP, work phone with an iPhone, and the last thing on the agenda is replacing my OnePlus with an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Roll on tonight!

Oh and I really want an Airtag but I don't know why boxedin

I've recently purchased a smart keyboard for my 2020 iPad Pro and it's now replaced my trusty old XPS i7 laptop for Lightroom and Photoshop.
