Hi Folks,

Moving to Buckingham next month and trying to get everything sorted out in advance as much as possible.

One of the things i need as i work from home a lot is internet, so looking for recommendations for ISP's in Buckingham town?

We are going to be in Treefields, and I see that Virgin Media is not there so it's gonna be a DSL provider.

Also, any other PH'ers in teh neighbourhood?

I've gone the 4G EE Router route, it works brilliantly, since I also work from home.

They have various options, but I went for the £100pm and so the kids and the grown ups can stream videos etc without the fear of going over the 500GB per month limit.

The BT line is pants, with no fibre option, unless I am willing to fork out £5k for an install

You might want to look and see if you can get fibre with someone else. I lived in an MK18 postcode (albeit a bit further out of central Buckingham than Treefields, over towards the Claydons) 7 or 8 years ago and even back then there was talk of BT fibre being incoming.

I've thrown a couple of MK18 1 postcodes into Zen's (https://www.zen.co.uk) system and it suggests you can get Superfast up to 42mbps down/7.5mbps up FTTC through them (that's BT lines rather than Virgin Media). But their Fast is 40/7 and 10 quid a month cheaper...

Having used BT, Virgin, PlusNet and Zen in the last decade, the latter is the only one I'd even go remotely near. They've been absolutely fantastic over the last 2 years I've used them.

Ah Buckingham, my home town!

Treefields (I remember this place when it was just trees and fields!) has fiber there IIRC so you should be ok. Also a short walk from The Woolpack my old pub biggrin

I used to go to the Woolpack every Wednesday lunchtime when I was studying at the University of Buckingham. Great pub.

Wife and 1 year old Daughter

Back in UK for first time in over 10 years ... renting a mates house till we get ourselves better set up.

Always like a beer, obviously like cars, otherwise fairly blank canvas as the whole UK thing is going to be a new experience! (Again)

I live in MK and have a unit near Buckingham, and as said, work there a fair bit, so my views are not as great as those who live there.

Swan Pool is a great pool, we use it instead of the MK ones as it’s much quieter and cleaner.

Super Sausage cafe is a must, it’s about 10 mins from Buckingham, proper bikers cafe at weekends, so cool to wander about.

Buckingham has always struck me as a nice place to wander in to town on a weekend for a coffee and breakfast.

Car wise, Silverstone on your doorstep, plus Bicester Heritage regularly has events on. Milton Keynes is popular for the younger drivers, with regular cruise nights etc.

Stony Stratford used to have a classic meet twice a year, but I believe the last one was in January just gone due to overcrowding.

Milton Keynes has everything for everybody, but at a cost, like any city. Indoor ski slope, kids soft play galore, football at MK Dons, Ice hockey at MK Lightning, huge shopping centre, great window cleaners...

Not much to go on, but gives you an idea, there’s loads on your doorstep.
