My post in another thread prompted me to post this.
If you used to be on sky and get a letter don't just bin it.
Seems their Billing Department are sending repayment of credit balance letters out to tidy up their books.
Mine was for a relatively small amount but it was nearly chucked as I just assumed it was a standard "come back to us " thing
Its very painless you just ring the number 08081 014 437 that's on the letter quote the account number the automate system then just arranges a cheque for the amount owed No intrusion by pushy sales staff

Thanks for that.

Wife just called saying we'd had a letter and wondered if it was a scam.

If they are sending cheques out, I wonder why they don't just include them with the original letter?

I imagine its because they hope a sizeable proportion just bin the letter or don't call!

Good point. I half expected to find when I rang the number that it was put through to a "come back we love u lets see what this refund has earned you" sort of thing but no its as described above. Automated number - key in the account number listed on the letter and that's it !
I suspect the guy above me may be correct in that they hope you don't respond. I can't actually remember when we were last with SKY but we had a pretty hefty package so I would perhaps be "ripe for enticement".
I wonder if its a tax year thingey ??

Just had an email saying they owe me £44, I thought it would be a scam.
