SIC code for a web/mobile app?
Discussion
If you launch an app and set up a limited company to administer the business side of the venture, what would the SIC code be? Can't find anything for apps on .gov. Looking at similar companies on Companies House they all seem to be "82990 - Other business support service activities not elsewhere classified". Any ideas?
Take your pick: http://resources.companieshouse.gov.uk/sic/![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

Maybe 62090, Other information technology service activities?
As above I don't think anyone actually cares too much, unless you were to pick something deliberately misleading.

It matters in so much as we have to provide one!

Nice list above, just pick one!
you might find that the OP has selected a code in the last 6 years ![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
as my post above - there is no specific purpose to the business in the code you choose - you might find there is some impact in terms of credit rating etc. if companies have different risk profiles for different SIC groupings - otherwise it is purely a mechanism for government to track sectors in growth / decline / etc. There are generic codes which can be used, or pick a 'closest to' code - there is no consequence for getting the 'wrong' code...
