Regarding the above, is there any laws or legislations preventing employers forcing people to work on these days.

I have just started and with easter coming yp i have been told to work all over easter weekend including easter sunday. I am a bit Pi55ed off to say the least. but all it says in the contract is you have to give 3 months notice not to work sundays and if you work on bank holidays you will get a day off in liue.

To be honst i want to spend time with my family over easter weekend and not work. Any Thoughts

Yeah sounds familiar. I remember when I was working for a large green-clothed DIY superstore a few years ago being pleased with getting a random day off in October. I was therefore, a little disappointed to be told that I had to work a shift on Boxing Day. That's about when it all clicked. They never told me of such a situation until it came about.

If your contract has any way standard working, guess your working - tough. Recent developments in family friendly working arrangements - can ask and must be considered, though no guidance on how seriously considered. Sadly employment is pretty much agreement. Unless you and employer agreed then, or now, that you won't work Sundays, your stuck with it.
