Advice needed, Logistics

I am seriously considering starting up on my own as a supply chain consultant, I have several years experience working in supply chain restructuring and pure logistics work. I have always had the sanctuary of regular employment but now feel it is time to step out on my own. Has anyone got experience of supply chain companies, good or bad? Or general advice about going into the big wide world.

Contact RK Supply Chain. They are the market leaders in Supply Chain Recruitment and have a very professional approach to finding consultants work. The market seems to be highly candidate driven so they will look after you.
They are part of the RK Group sorry I have not got a number but I am sure google will give you one.
Michael Page are also focusing on this area too so try and contact someone there as well.

Getting paid late and having to chase, chase, chase for your money is my experience working in the Logistics field. So make sure you have a more than reasonable cashflow to tide you over.

I have got a blue chip client still to pay for some consultancy work I completed in September. I know I will get paid, but you can't really get antagonistic about pressing for payment, if you want to be in the running for further jobs.

I'd also want to know how many people in different supply chain companies you know personally. Networking and word of mouth referals are likely to be where you get your contracts.

To tell you the truth given the right opportunity, I'd probably jump on the regular employment route myself. I love the challenge of the work itself, just not all the (unpaid) ancillary paperwork the Government requires.

It sounds an interesting prospect, Cornwall has always been the "bane of my life" in my other projects - especially when you don't have a depot there.
