This is something I've been considering for a while, originally from a business point of view, but now more for personal use.
I'm fed up to the back teeth with agreeing something with call centre person only to have the agreement ignored and then flatly denied a few days later.

So has anyone got a simple (cheap skate) solution, my prefference is for somthing to link to my PC to record stuff as an MP3 or similar.

The most simple would be a cheap answerphone, although they do peep to make the caller aware that you are recording their call.
I am sure some modem software lets you use your pc as a telephone so you could also record your calls, how I am unsure though.. Sorry for not being to great a help...

And of course *their* calls are always recorded 'for training purposes' - though no doubt in the event of a dispute that was going against them, they'd lose the tape...

Not sure about any of this but........if you got your phone to run through your PC and use voice over IP telephone software stuff you may be able to store the conversations as files on your hardrive or whatever?
I would suggest posting this on teh compauters and stuff forum perhaps??

One of these can be then plugged into the mic socket on the soundcard, the use soundrecorder to save it as a wav or just plug straight into the mic socket of a dictaphone/taperecorder.

Thanks for the replys, I'll try the Computers section.

RPGUK, unfortunately I use DECT phones which scuppers that. I tried this last year and however and struggled to make it work properly, it was an inferior connector mind.

Just checking but from a business point of view I believe you have to inform anyone that the conversation is being taped

That was one of the reasons I didnt really pursue the business angle.

I've been shafted by the AA's call centre and my credit cards' recently and I've decided enoughs enough.

Try these people. They have a software product that will connect to your PC. I think it's called Retel?
