'tis a site for companies looking for contractors and contractors looking for contracts.

Costs money to register as a contractor, and I'd rather get some idea of whether they're any cop before I cough up the folding.

Cheers...

A contractor working with me had a look at these guys but reckons that if you are half decent then you will get work through the agency route. It looks like it's another layer between the contractor and end client.

Are you finding it hard to find work Chris??

Get yourself a PDA with Wireless connection and go driving around industrial estates and Business parks, see who has got a wireless connection enabled and offer your services to secure there connections.

I done this recently to see how many offices have wireless connections, you will be suprised how many have no encryption etc, One boss asked for proof i showed him the stuff via my laptop. he proptly asked us to secure the network. was going through bit of a dry spell on the work front and done anything to get money in.

Chris mail me if you need a few ideas to keep you going over the coming weeks i have a few emergency ideas for when the money drys up and it usually keeps me going until thing pick up again

Did this ages ago for fun, but I'm a bit wary of the cold calling aspect of it, and the fact that some people have ended up on a sticky wicket in this area.

The horribly out-of-date stuff I did is here: wireless stuff

Yes I would be very careful about 'testing' peoples networks. I'm sure you would get some wprk but I suspect you would upset a lot of people.

Ive done it a few times and got some work from the small business's round here, but also used it against my old employer as i could not get access to my computer so used laptop to login wirelessly and transfer all my work from the network to my laptop.

I was made redundent on my days holiday went in the next day found that i had lost access to get into the office i work. You have to go through so extreme
security measures
