Hi guys,

I finally decided that I really cannot take any more of this job and that even though I have nothing definite to move to, it is in my best interests to leave now before I snap. I have written my letter of resignation and was hoping one of you could tell me if anything needs changing...

Thanks!

Dear XXXXXX

As required by my contract of employment, I hereby give you two weeks notice of my intention to leave my position as Care Assistant.

It is with regret that I make this decision as I have enjoyed my time working for XXXXXXXXX and have made some good friends at the same time but feel that I need to change my career path to achieve my goals.

Please be assured that I will work my notice period, and may I take this opportunity to thank you for having me as part of the team and to wish you and all your staff the very best for the future.

Very nicely written. Says what it needs to, nothing more. Always a good policy

Sounds far more restrained than the one I am planning, don't burn your bridges and all that.

That is fine, I've had much worse in the past
You might want to mention something about any holiday you have left and an expected leaving date.

I'm not sure if I am entitled to any: I am on a zero hour contract, and have only been there four months. I would presume that I don't have any entitlement to payment or days in leiu. Am I correct in thinking this?

I believe you are entitled to 4 weeks paid leave, pro-rated down to the 4 months you have been there - i.e. 4/12 x 20 days = 6.6 days!

However this could be complete bull, but that't what I got!

www.i-resign.com is the one I used - there's a nice variety of letters from polite to downright rude
